Take a look at the construction of two different outdoor cooking centres on the Paul's Island page and Richard Cruz's built-in project. Also you'll want to see our companion outdoor beverage center, now available in a build-in module.

Eric White's kitchen

If you saw the construction photo (right) on the Winter 2001-02 Scrap Book page, you'll be delighted to find out how well Eric White's outdoor kitchen has turned out. Below left shows the wall, vent hood and lighting, and the below right photo shows a closeup as the wall was closed in. Brandt Ziegler sent along some photos of the construction of his built-in Top Grill, starting with the demolition of his old built in charcoal unit and turning it into little more than a pile of rocks. Then the decorative cinder blocks were placed for the base of the Top Grill unit and tile was installed for the grill top.

Brandt writes, "This installation was done last spring as part of a major back yard  renovation that took us 18 months. It is a focal point of the back yard now. All my friends and visitors (especially the guys) marvel at it when they come over.  We have cooked everything in it from simple hamburgers to steaks, 8 pound beef roasts, whole salmon, vegetables, and many other dishes. EVERYTHING has come out perfectly!"

"Thank you for an excellent product!"

Black Rose Cantina

Look at this beautiful installation in Tom Watts back yard in Yorba Linda, California. he calls it the Black Rose Cantina.

Tom wrote to us as he was building the little backyard pavilion to house his new Top Grill build-in BBQ: writes: With the appearance of a rough out dimension of 5 feet in the structure to be called the Black Rose Cantina, it is quite apparent that there is something more than the typically purchased California barbecue to be installed in the Watts Family backyard. There is a certain rumbling out here on the West Coast which is not associated with geologic phenomena, but, instead with the whispers of the neighborhood in nervous speculation of the future. The tension is deep. Impromptu debates over the merits of stainless steel can be heard. Women and children avert their gaze when passing the gaping 5 foot void as if to believe that it is not there.

There are rumors of heresy and breaking ranks with the turbo-master at barbecues galore.

Mayor John Gullixson has called for a full scale city investigation into the dimension of the rough out with owner Tom Watts refusing comment on constitutional grounds.

Here are a couple photos of a custom made Top Grill installed in an existing island in Cortland, Ohio. Burnett Pools Inc. called The Iron Works because the installation was made for one of those cheaper "lifetime guarantee" grills that just didn't last. No one but the Iron Works seemed willing to take on the challenge of building a custom grill to fit the existing opening.

If you have a similar problem with an existing situation, let us know and we'll tell you what we can do to help!
