In the News

We'll be talking to someone who's new to The Iron Works and they'll often say, "I think I heard of you somewhere before, but I can't remember where!"

Take a look at some of our media appearances over the years, and maybe you'll realize you heard of us long before you dealt with us!

We made news in the 1990s too!

Paul's in the news

Our own Paul Faaborg is quoted in the Washington Post story on year-around grilling.

All about Paul

Our own Paul Faaborg was featured in the Sept-Oct '02 edition of Business Development Outlook. (the one with Ross Perot on the cover.  )

The perfect grill on TV

We're really proud of this one! If you're in the northeast U.S. watch for a cameo appearance by the Iron Works Top Grill in the Thuman Hot Dog tv commercial. The commercial is so cute that we've placed a copy of it on the site for you to view.

The Thuman hot dog people needed "the perfect grill" for their perfect hot dogs!

It's really cute! See for yourself.

Please note they've taken some literary license with the Top Grill in the commercial. When you order, it arrives fully assembled and ready to grill!

We're in newsweek

The respected news magazine did a story on how us smaller companies are doing well on the web while some of the big companies have not.

From May 13, 2002

"Adaptability may be the main quality that defines the successful Web-based small business. The Iron Works, a Springhill, La., manufacturer of outdoor barbecue grills and entertaining accessories, has learned from his company’s first Web experiences and created a presence (www.topgrills.com) that takes customers in hand and leads them to the point of purchasing the company’s high-end products, as well as margin-building add-ons.

As a result, it has grown from one Web site in 1995 to more than 20, with the profitable number of orders doubling from 2000 to 2001. “The concept is to find the person looking for outdoor cooking, then take him to a site telling him how to do it, then take him to a site letting him purchase what he’s just been reading about doing,” explains Iron Works president Paul Faaborg.

Customers are kept close and encouraged to share photos at the sites and interact. If someone has a question, Faaborg as likely as not will personally answer it. “A lot of big companies may think the Internet is another form of printed advertising,” he says, “where it’s really an opportunity to meet your clients up close and personal.”

Tim wins a Top Grill!

Isle of Capri Casino in Shreveport, LA offered a Top Grill "Queen Mary" gas or charcoal grill as a major prize on selected slots.

Tim Williams of Doyline, La. is the one of the winners, and he poses in front of the 36 inch Queen Mary gas grill as he's congratulated by a casino employee.

Our own boss, Paul cooked ribs for over 3,000 hungry patrons at the Isle of Capri Casino, using the six rib racks to produce the best ribs you've ever tasted. The rib racks are pictured on the table, you can see them in action on our Cookbook Online site.

If you're at the Casino, why not call us and arrange a factory tour, we're only about 45 minutes away!
